After I manually imported a few hotfixes and optional updates from Microsoft Update Catalog, I noticed that it takes quite times to download from Microsoft website. Is there any way to check the download status so you know when to expect they will be available to be deployed?
Hi, we have a Wsus server and a GPO that forces all PCs and Servers to work with it. In the GPO, 'configure automatic updates' is configured to 'notify for download and notify for install' and the 'schedule install day' is tuesday. I have a problem where the WSUS patch/MS-KB file are gone from the WSUS-server filesystem. Is there any way to force a download again? I have tried to run the WSUS setup wizard again, and alos to do a manual sync, but nothing gets downloaded. New patches, released after the patched got deleted, is downloading just fine to the WSUS server. Download this tool, which has been designed to aid the WSUS administrator in troubleshooting client machines that are failing to report back to the WSUS Server. The tool will conduct preliminary checks and test the communication between the WSUS Server and the client machine. The utility will automatically check for Microsoft software updates, hotfixes, and patches and then distribute them to all the computers on the network. Although the WSUS server is a free automatic update service, it is a little rudimentary as a patch management solution. The system produces logs, but these can be difficult to comb through.
The bad news is that there is no way to check download status for individual updates but the good news, you can see the overall status right from WSUS console.
Open WSUS console and click the server name.
In the Overview section, you will see a section called Download Status in where it lists how many update files are downloading, how much has been downloaded and how much in total that needs to be downloaded.
